Bitzer SE-i1
Electronic protection module for CS. and HS. compressors (multi-parameter monitoring)

What does Bitzer SE-i1 mean?
The SE-i1 is BITZER's electronic protection module that monitors all essential operating parameters of CS. and HS. compressors: motor temperature (PTC), rotation direction, phase failure, oil supply, switching frequency, and operating limits via low/high-pressure transducers. It logs operating data, has a real-time clock, communicates over Modbus RTU, and is configured with the BEST SOFTWARE. It complies with EN/UL 60730 and replaces the SE-C1 and SE-C2.
Symptoms
- Compressor stopped by the protection module
- Alarm or warning raised in the BEST SOFTWARE or over Modbus
- Warning when recommended standstill times are not met
- Operating point reported outside the application-limit envelope
Common causes
- Motor over-temperature, wrong rotation direction or phase failure
- Oil-supply fault (low oil level or insufficient oil flow)
- Operation outside the pressure/application limits
- Excessive switching frequency or non-observed standstill times
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Read the module diagnostics
Use the BEST SOFTWARE or the Modbus RTU interface to read the logged operating data and identify which monitored parameter triggered the event.
- 02
Check motor protection inputs
Verify motor temperature (PTC), rotation direction and phase supply, all of which the SE-i1 monitors.
- 03
Verify oil monitoring
Check oil level on CS. compressors or oil flow on HS. compressors, and confirm the sensor set is wired correctly.
- 04
Confirm operating limits
Compare the operating point against the application-limit diagram using the high/low-pressure transducer data.
- 05
Confirm configuration
Ensure the SE-i1 is configured for the correct compressor type and settings in the BEST SOFTWARE before returning to service.

When to call a professional
All work on the compressor and system is reserved for trained, authorized specialists. The SE-i1 sensor set, Modbus wiring and BEST SOFTWARE configuration require specific BITZER knowledge (see CT-110 and the CW-110 video guide). Persistent alarms, oil-supply faults or application-limit violations need a qualified refrigeration technician to diagnose and correct the root cause.
