What does Carrier E4 mean?
The control has detected a discharge temperature sensor reading that is out of range. Carrier's repair guidance is to measure the resistance value in the sensor, because a sensor reporting an impossible value will stop the system from running. This protects the compressor from operating without trustworthy discharge-temperature feedback.
