Irinox A17 Error Code

Room temperature probe (RV6) alarm – automatic reset – MULTIFRESH NEXT

Source: Irinox_MULTI_FRESH_NEXT_S_None_ServiceManual_RF_EN_part02.pdf

What does Irinox A17 mean?

The MULTIFRESH NEXT control has detected that the ambient room temperature probe RV6 (NTC-type) is faulty, open-circuit, or reading outside the expected range. RV6 provides ambient temperature data used by the control system for functions such as condenser fan management and cycle optimisation. The alarm auto-resets when a valid RV6 reading is restored.

Symptoms

  • A17 alarm code displayed on the MULTIFRESH NEXT control panel
  • Ambient room temperature reading absent or showing an error value on the display
  • Condenser or ambient-dependent control functions may behave erratically
  • Alarm may clear intermittently when the probe connector is disturbed
  • No visible impact on core blast-chill function in some operating modes, but alarm must still be resolved

Common causes

  • Room temperature probe RV6 (NTC-type) faulty, open-circuit, or outside the readable resistance range
  • PU power board analogue input for RV6 faulty
  • Precarious or corroded connection of RV6 probe wires to M5 terminal block poles 5 and 6
  • Oxide build-up on M5 terminal block poles 5 and 6

Diagnostic steps

  1. Locate and visually inspect RV6 probe

Identify the RV6 NTC room probe on the MULTIFRESH NEXT (typically located near the air inlet or condenser area). Inspect the probe body and cable for visible damage, kinking, or moisture ingress.

  2. Inspect and clean M5 terminal block poles 5 and 6

Access the M5 terminal block and examine poles 5 and 6 where RV6 wires terminate. Clean any oxide from the terminal surfaces, firmly retighten the screw clamps, and confirm the wires are fully seated.

  3. Measure RV6 NTC resistance

Disconnect the RV6 probe wires from M5 poles 5 and 6 and measure resistance at a known ambient temperature. Cross-reference the reading against the NTC temperature-resistance table in the MULTIFRESH NEXT service manual; an open circuit or significantly out-of-range value confirms probe failure.

  4. Replace RV6 probe if measurement is out of specification

Fit the correct Irinox-specified NTC replacement probe for RV6, routing and securing the cable in the same configuration as the original to prevent chafing or heat exposure.

  5. Reconnect to M5 and confirm alarm clearance

Reconnect the probe wires to M5 terminal block poles 5 and 6, restore power, and verify that A17 clears and the room temperature reading on the display is plausible and stable.

  6. Evaluate PU power board if fault persists

If a confirmed good probe and clean terminals do not resolve A17, the PU power board analogue input for RV6 may be defective. Record all probe measurements before escalating to board-level diagnosis.

When to call a professional

Escalate to an Irinox-authorised technician if A17 persists after probe replacement and terminal remediation, pointing to a PU power board analogue input fault. Board-level diagnosis and replacement require Irinox service tooling and parameter configuration that must be carried out by a qualified technician to ensure correct machine operation after repair.
