What does Munters T1 SNS ERR mean?
On a Munters Smart C/D climate controller, T1 SNS ERR means the controller has detected a fault in temperature sensor 1. The manual states this sensor is either out of order, disconnected, or shorted, so the controller can no longer read a valid temperature from that input. The alarm is shown on the main screen, alternating with the normal display.
Symptoms
- T1 SNS ERR alarm shown on the main screen, alternating with the normal display
- Temperature for sensor 1 reads as invalid or missing
- Alarm relay activates and the alarm repeats until the fault is cleared
- Climate control that depends on sensor 1 behaves abnormally
Common causes
- Temperature sensor 1 is out of order
- Temperature sensor 1 is disconnected
- Temperature sensor 1 wiring is shorted
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Acknowledge the alarm
Press OK on the main menu to reset the alarm relay. The manual notes the alarm message keeps displaying until the underlying problem is resolved.
- 02
Check the sensor 1 connection
Inspect the wiring for temperature sensor 1 for a disconnected lead, since the manual lists a disconnected sensor as a cause.
- 03
Inspect the wiring for a short
Examine the sensor 1 cable for a short circuit, which the manual lists as a possible reason for the alarm.
- 04
Replace a failed sensor
If the sensor is out of order, fit a working temperature sensor on input 1.
- 05
Disable the alarm only if the sensor is removed deliberately
The manual states that if a sensor was deliberately removed, the sensor error alarm can be disabled via the Calibration menu.

When to call a professional
The Smart C/D manual cautions that if any problem arises with the hardware you should not open the box and should contact an authorized electrician. Call a qualified technician if checking the sensor connection does not clear the alarm, if you are unsure how to work safely inside a mains-powered controller enclosure, or if sensor replacement and recalibration are needed beyond your experience.
