What does Munters T2 SNS ERR mean?

On a Munters Smart C/D climate controller, T2 SNS ERR indicates a fault in temperature sensor 2. According to the manual, this sensor is either out of order, disconnected, or shorted, leaving the controller without a valid reading from that input. The alarm appears on the main screen, shown alternately with the standard display.

Symptoms

  • T2 SNS ERR alarm displayed on the main screen
  • Temperature reading from sensor 2 is invalid or absent
  • Alarm relay triggers and the message repeats until resolved
  • Ventilation or heating tied to sensor 2 responds abnormally

Common causes

  • Temperature sensor 2 is out of order
  • Temperature sensor 2 is disconnected
  • Temperature sensor 2 wiring is shorted

Diagnostic steps

  1. 01

    Acknowledge the alarm

Press OK on the main menu to reset the alarm relay; the manual notes the message continues until the problem is fixed.

  2. 02

    Check the sensor 2 connection

Inspect temperature sensor 2 wiring for a disconnected lead, a cause listed in the manual.

  3. 03

Inspect the wiring for a short

Check the sensor 2 cable for a short circuit, which the manual gives as a possible reason.

  4. 04

    Replace a failed sensor

If sensor 2 is out of order, install a working temperature sensor on that input.

  5. 05

Disable the alarm only if the sensor is removed deliberately

The manual states a deliberately removed sensor's error alarm can be disabled via the Calibration menu.

When to call a professional

The Smart C/D manual cautions not to open the controller box if a hardware problem arises, and to contact an authorized electrician. Call a qualified technician if the alarm persists after checking the sensor connection, if you cannot safely work inside a mains-powered enclosure, or if replacing and recalibrating the sensor is beyond your experience.
