What does Star Belt Error mean?

On Star UM-Series conveyor ovens, a belt error appears as a flashing text message on the controller display. It signals a fault with the conveyor belt drive. When a belt error occurs, the controller turns the temperature output off so the oven does not continue heating while the belt is not moving product through correctly.

Symptoms

• A flashing text error message on the controller display
• Temperature output turns off when the error appears
• Conveyor belt stalls, will not move, or runs erratically
• Product is not carried through the oven as expected

Common causes

• Conveyor belt jammed, bound, or obstructed
• Belt drive motor or its wiring at fault
• Conveyor assembly improperly seated after cleaning or reassembly
• Failed controller belt-monitoring circuit

   Disconnect power before servicing

   Push the power switch to OFF and disconnect the oven. Confirm all switches are off, since stacked ovens can have more than one power connection point.

   Check the conveyor belt and assembly

   Inspect the conveyor belt for jams or obstructions and confirm the conveyor assembly is correctly installed, as it is removed for cleaning and must be reseated properly.

   Confirm the heat output is off

   Verify the controller has turned the temperature output off, which is the documented response when a belt error is present.
