What does ACiQ EC07 mean?

EC07 means the outdoor unit fan speed is out of control. When the outdoor fan speed stays too low or too high for a certain time, the controller displays the failure code and the air conditioner turns off. The related EC71 code indicates over-current failure of the outdoor DC fan motor.

Symptoms

• EC07 shown on the display
• Outdoor fan not spinning, spinning weakly, or running erratically
• Air conditioner turns off after the fault
• Reduced heat rejection from the outdoor unit

Common causes

• Obstructed or seized outdoor fan that will not turn freely
• Loose or damaged fan motor wiring
• Faulty outdoor DC fan motor
• Faulty outdoor PCB fan-drive output

Diagnostic steps

1. 01

   Power cycle the unit

   Power off, wait about two minutes, then restart and check whether the problem remains.

2. 02

   Check the fan turns freely

   With power off, rotate the outdoor fan by hand; if it does not turn easily, find and resolve the cause.

3. 03

   Inspect the fan wiring

   Confirm the fan motor wiring is correct and connections are secure.

4. 04

   Test the drive voltage

   Measure the voltage for the fan motor from the PCB; if it is outside normal parameters, the board is suspect.

5. 05

   Replace the failed component

   Replace the main PCB if its output is abnormal, otherwise replace the fan motor.

Diagnosing EC07 requires measuring DC fan-motor drive voltages and possibly replacing the outdoor fan motor or control board in a compartment where capacitors can hold a charge after power-off. If clearing an obstruction and reseating wiring does not fix it, contact a licensed HVAC technician.
