What does Amana 10 Flashes mean?

Ten red flashes indicate an open fuse and no 24-volt power reaching the integrated control module, and the furnace is not operating. A high voltage surge can blow off the fuse, cutting low-voltage power to the control so it can no longer run the furnace until the fuse is replaced.

Symptoms

  • Furnace not operating
  • Integrated control module diagnostic LED flashes ten red flashes
  • No 24-volt power at the control module
  • Control fuse is open

Common causes

  • Open fuse on the integrated control module
  • No 24V power to the integrated control module
  • High voltage surge that blows off the fuse

Diagnostic steps

  1. 01

    Replace the fuse

Replace the open fuse to restore 24-volt power to the integrated control module.

  2. 02

    Look for a surge source

Determine whether a high voltage surge blew the fuse so the replacement does not immediately fail again.

  3. 03

    Confirm 24V is restored

Verify the control module receives 24-volt power and resumes normal operation after the fuse is replaced.

  4. 04

    Power off before servicing

Verify the line voltage supply is turned off before proceeding with corrections.

When to call a professional

A fuse that blows once may only need replacing, but a repeatedly opening fuse points to a wiring short or surge that needs professional diagnosis. If the ten-flash code returns after replacing the fuse, or if you cannot safely verify line and low-voltage power, call a qualified servicer. Always confirm the line voltage supply is off before working inside the control area.
