What does Coreco dF mean?

On the Coreco controller (Carel easy / easy compact), dF means a defrost is running. This is not an alarm signal but a message that the instrument is performing a defrost; the buzzer and alarm relay are not activated. It is only shown when parameter d6=0, where the display alternates dF with the control-probe temperature, and it resets automatically when the defrost ends.

Symptoms

• Display shows dF alternating with the temperature
• Appears only when parameter d6=0
• No buzzer and no alarm relay activation (it is not an alarm)
• Compressor/heater behaviour follows the defrost cycle
• Message ends automatically when the defrost finishes

Common causes

• A defrost cycle is in progress (normal operation)
• Scheduled defrost started by interval (dI) or time band
• Manual defrost started from the keypad or digital input
• Defrost on power-up (parameter d4=1)
• Parameter d6=0, which enables display of the dF message during defrost

Diagnostic steps

1. 01

   Recognise it is normal

   dF is not an alarm — it simply indicates the instrument is running a defrost, shown only when d6=0.

2. 02

   Let the defrost finish

   Allow the defrost cycle to complete; the dF message ends automatically and the temperature display returns to normal.

3. 03

   Adjust the display if preferred

   If you would rather freeze the temperature display during defrost instead of seeing dF, set parameter d6=1 so the last temperature is held.

4. 04

   Confirm defrosts complete correctly

   Watch that the cycle ends on temperature rather than timing out (which would instead raise the Ed message).

When to call a professional

dF on its own is normal and needs no service. Involve a qualified refrigeration technician only if defrosts run far too often, fail to clear ice, or are accompanied by alarms such as Ed or E1, since diagnosing the defrost circuit and probes involves the cabinet's electrical and refrigeration systems reserved for qualified personnel.
