What does Coreco IA mean?

On the Coreco controller (Carel easy / easy compact), IA is the external alarm raised through the multifunction digital input when it is set as an alarm input (parameter A4=1). The signal can be immediate or delayed by parameter A7. When detected, the controller flashes IA, sounds the buzzer and stops the compressor due to external alarm while the fan keeps running per its parameters. The alarm resets automatically.

Symptoms

• Display shows IA flashing alternating with the temperature
• Buzzer sounds when the alarm is enabled
• Compressor stops due to the external alarm (immediate when A7=0)
• Evaporator fan continues to run according to its parameters
• Any defrost or continuous cycle in progress is interrupted

Common causes

• External device wired to the digital input has signalled an alarm
• Digital input contact opened with A4=1 (open = alarm detected)
• Fault or trip in the connected external protection device
• Incorrect A4 / A7 multifunction-input configuration
• Wiring problem on the multifunction digital input

Diagnostic steps

1. 01

   Recognise the external-alarm source

   IA is an immediate or delayed alarm from the multifunction digital input. Check the external device wired to that input to see what condition it has flagged.

2. 02

   Mute the buzzer

   Press SET to silence the buzzer; the IA code clears once the external alarm condition ends.

3. 03

   Check the multifunction input and parameters

   Verify the multifunction input wiring and parameters A4 and A7 — A4=1 sets the input as an external alarm and A7 sets the detection delay.

4. 04

   Investigate the connected device

   Inspect whatever protection or device drives the input contact, since with A4=1 an open contact is read as an alarm and a closed contact as normal operation.

5. 05

   Confirm recovery

   When the external alarm ceases the unit resumes normal operation — a continuous cycle can run, defrosts can run, and the compressor restarts after its minimum off time (parameter c2).

Because IA originates from an external device wired into the controller, have a qualified technician trace the source if it is not obvious or recurs. Access to the cabinet's electrical parts is reserved for qualified personnel, who can verify the A4/A7 settings, the input wiring and the connected protection device so the external alarm is correctly diagnosed and cleared.
