What does Electrolux Professional dESS mean?

dESS is a warning that the SkyLine oven boiler is approaching its scale build-up threshold (parameter bSCt). Unlike dESC, it does not stop cooking; it prompts you to descale soon. Acting on it early prevents the scale from reaching the level that halts boiler cycles or triggers boiler over-temperature alarms.

Symptoms

  • dESS warning displayed
  • Cooking continues normally
  • Reminder to descale the boiler
  • Precedes the harder dESC stop condition

Common causes

  • Scale in the boiler; parameter bSCt (boiler scale build-up threshold) has been reached

Diagnostic steps

  1. 01

    Schedule a descale

Plan to run a cleaning program with the rinse and descale cycle soon.

  2. 02

    Run the descale cycle

Run the cleaning program including rinse and descale using 2 C25 tablets only.

  3. 03

    Keep cooking meanwhile

Cooking can continue while you arrange the descale.

  4. 04

    Call Service if it persists

If the problem persists after descaling, call Service.

When to call a professional

dESS is a maintenance warning kitchen staff can usually clear by descaling with the specified tablets. Involve an Electrolux Professional service centre only if the warning keeps returning shortly after a correct descale. Frequent scale warnings indicate hard water or an ineffective descale routine, and a technician can advise on water treatment to protect the boiler over the long term.
