Gree F2 Error Code
Indoor tube (evaporator) temperature sensor open- or short-circuited
Source: Gree/Gree_etac-iii-r32-service-manual-a_HVAC.pdf
What does Gree F2 mean?
F2 means the indoor tube (evaporator coil) temperature sensor is open- or short-circuited. Without a valid coil temperature the board cannot run anti-freeze and defrost logic safely, so it protects the system. In cool/fan/dry the indoor fan runs while the compressor and outdoor fan stop; in heat all loads stop. The display reads F2.
Symptoms
- Display shows F2
- In cool/fan/dry the indoor fan runs but compressor and outdoor fan stop; in heat all loads stop
- No effective cooling or heating
- Fault latches at start-up or shortly after
Common causes
- Tube (evaporator) temperature sensor not connected well
- Temperature sensor damaged
- Sensor connection wire short-circuited or broken
- Indoor unit main board fault

Diagnostic steps
Reseat the sensor
Check the terminal between the evaporator tube sensor and the control board for looseness or poor contact and insert the sensor firmly.
Check for shorts
Inspect for a short circuit caused by tripped-over parts on the board and set them upright.
Verify resistance
Measure the sensor resistance and compare it with the temperature-sensor resistance table; replace with the same model if out of spec.
Replace the main board
If sensor and wiring check out, replace the indoor controller board with one of the same model.
When to call a professional
The evaporator tube sensor clips to the coil inside the indoor unit and reading it against the resistance table needs a meter. If reseating does not clear F2, or the board itself is suspect, call a licensed HVAC technician rather than repeatedly resetting the unit, since running with a failed coil sensor can defeat freeze protection.
