What does Elitech AL1 mean?
AL1 is the low cabinet temperature alarm. The Elitech manual states it is triggered when cabinet temperature falls below the set-point (SEt) minus the Low Alarm differential (LAL) and the temperature alarm delay has elapsed; AL1 is then displayed. The alarm clears when cabinet temperature rises back above the set-point. It signals the cabinet is running colder than the configured lower limit.
Symptoms
- Display shows AL1
- Cabinet temperature reads below set-point minus the LAL differential
- Buzzer may sound if alarm output is configured
- Product may be colder or frozen beyond intended range
Common causes
- Cabinet genuinely too cold for the application
- Compressor relay stuck or running continuously
- Set-point or LAL differential configured too tight
- Cabinet sensor reading low due to placement near the evaporator
- Ambient or load conditions much lower than expected

Confirm the over-cooling
Compare the displayed cabinet temperature with set-point minus LAL to verify a real low-temperature condition, which is what the manual triggers AL1 on.

Check the set-point and LAL
Review the SEt value and the Low Alarm differential (LAL) to confirm the lower limit suits the product being stored.

Verify compressor cycling
Confirm the compressor stops when the cabinet reaches set-point; a relay that fails to open keeps cooling and drives temperature too low.

Inspect sensor placement
Make sure the cabinet probe is positioned to read true cabinet air and is not chilled directly by the evaporator, which can read falsely low.

Review alarm delay overrides
Check the PAO, dAO and tAO delays so the alarm threshold is applied correctly; AL1 clears once temperature rises back above set-point.

When to call a professional
Call a technician if the cabinet keeps running below the low-alarm limit after the set-point, differential and sensor placement have been checked, particularly if the compressor will not stop cycling or you suspect a stuck contactor or control fault. Persistent over-cooling can freeze and damage product and waste energy, so professional diagnosis of the control and compressor circuit is advisable when settings are correct.
