What does Elitech EE mean?

On the Elitech STC-1000X, EE is the sensor fault alarm. The manual states that when the temperature sensor is short-circuited or open-circuited, the controller starts fault-alarm mode, turns off all outputs, sounds the buzzer and displays EE. Pressing any button mutes the buzzer. The controller returns to normal operating mode automatically once the sensor fault is removed.

Symptoms

• Display shows EE
• All outputs (cooling and heating) are switched off
• Buzzer beeps until a button is pressed to mute it
• Temperature is no longer displayed or controlled

• Open-circuit temperature sensor (broken probe or lead)
• Short-circuit temperature sensor

Diagnostic steps

   Mute the alarm

   Press any button to silence the buzzer, as the manual describes, so you can work without the audible alarm.

   Confirm EE is the displayed code

   Verify the panel shows EE, the STC-1000X sensor short/open-circuit fault, rather than a temperature value.

   Inspect the sensor and wiring

   With power off, check the NTC sensor lead and terminals for an open or short circuit and for loose or wrong connections, keeping the sensor lead away from power cables.

   Reconnect or replace the probe

   Reseat the sensor or fit a correct NTC replacement; all outputs stay off until the sensor reads correctly.

5. 05

   Restore normal operation

   Once the sensor fault is removed, the controller returns to normal operating mode automatically as the manual states, re-enabling the outputs.

When to call a professional

Call a technician if EE remains after the sensor and wiring have been checked and the probe replaced, or if you cannot safely de-energise the controller to inspect the circuit. Because the controller turns off all outputs during this alarm, cooling stops entirely while EE is active, so a faulty sensor should be corrected quickly to avoid loss of temperature control over stored product.
