What does Follett PM mean?

On 7 and 15 Series dispensers the PM LED is a red indicator that six-month periodic maintenance is required, prompting cleaning and sanitizing. The reminder is reset by entering and exiting Maintenance Mode. It can be disabled by moving the PM DIP switch (DIP switch 8) to the ON position, which sets the six-month periodic maintenance to disabled.

Symptoms

• Red PM LED illuminated on the user interface.
• Indicator appears at the six-month maintenance interval.
• PM reminder clears after entering and exiting Maintenance Mode.
• PM stays off if disabled via the PM DIP switch.

Common causes

• Six-month periodic maintenance interval reached.
• Maintenance Mode not yet cycled to reset the reminder after cleaning.
• PM reminder enabled (DIP switch 8 in the OFF position).

Diagnostic steps

1. 01

   Perform cleaning and sanitizing

   Complete the NSF-approved cleaning and sanitizing procedure, which the manual schedules at least every six months, when the PM indicator appears.

2. 02

   Reset the reminder

   Enter and exit Maintenance Mode by pressing and holding the maintenance/clean switch, which the manual states resets the six-month periodic maintenance reminder.

   Optionally disable PM

   To disable the reminder, move the PM DIP switch (DIP switch 8) to the ON position, which sets six-month PM to disabled per the DIP switch table.

4. 04

   Confirm the indicator clears

   Verify the PM LED is no longer lit after cycling Maintenance Mode or disabling the reminder.

When to call a professional

The PM reminder is an operator-level maintenance prompt, and the cleaning and sanitizing it calls for can be performed by trained facility staff following the manual. Involve a Follett-authorized technician if the icemaker shows performance problems during the periodic maintenance, if internal service is needed beyond cleaning, or if the PM indicator behaves abnormally after the reminder is reset, since deeper service requires qualified personnel.
