What does Lainox DOOR OPEN mean?
The DOOR OPEN alarm signals that the appliance door has been detected open beyond the configured delay. As a protective response the controller deactivates all outputs except the cell light and the alarm relay, stopping refrigeration while the door is open. It is typically a usage or door-switch condition rather than an internal failure, and clears once the door is properly closed.
Symptoms
- DOOR OPEN alarm message appears on the controller.
- All outputs except the light and alarm relay are deactivated.
- Refrigeration stops while the door is reported open.
- Alarm persists even after the door appears shut (faulty switch).
Common causes
- Door left open or not fully latched.
- Door seal or gasket preventing full closure.
- Faulty or misaligned door micro-switch.
- Incorrect door-input polarity or delay parameter setting.
- Obstruction preventing the door from closing.
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Check the door conditions
As the manual directs, verify the door is fully closed and latched and that nothing is obstructing it.
- 02
Inspect the door gasket
Check the door seal for damage or debris that prevents a complete close, and clean or replace it as needed.
- 03
Verify the door switch
If the alarm persists with the door clearly shut, inspect the door micro-switch for misalignment or failure that keeps reporting the door open.
- 04
Confirm normal operation resumes
Once the door is correctly closed and detected, verify the alarm clears and the previously deactivated outputs resume operation.

When to call a professional
Most DOOR OPEN alarms are resolved by closing the door correctly or cleaning the gasket. If the alarm stays active with the door fully shut, the door micro-switch or its wiring is likely faulty and should be tested or replaced by an authorised technician, especially if the input parameter configuration is involved and not understood by the operator.
