What does Silko Er2 mean?

Er2 is the cell probe error on Silko blast chillers driven by the EWBC1400 controller. It indicates the cell (chamber) probe is not connected properly or has failed. Behaviour depends on the running program: a manual program with the needle probe (parameter P3=1) continues using the needle probe as the cell probe, while a manual program without the needle probe (P3=0) stops; an automatic program stops.

Symptoms

• "Er2" is shown on the controller display.
• A manual program without a needle probe stops unexpectedly.
• An automatic program stops because the chamber temperature cannot be read.
• No buzzer sounds; the alarm is indicated on the display only.

Common causes

• Cell (chamber) probe not connected properly to the appliance.
• Cell probe failure.
• Damaged probe cable or connector.
• Loose connection at the controller probe terminal.

Diagnostic steps

   Check the cell probe connection

   Verify the cell (chamber) probe is correctly connected to the appliance and reseat the connector at the controller input.

2. 02

   Use the needle probe as a fallback

   If a manual program is in progress with the needle probe (P3=1), the unit continues using the needle probe as the cell probe, so the cycle can finish while you investigate.

3. 03

   Inspect the probe and wiring

   Check the cell probe and its lead for visible damage that could interrupt the signal to the controller.

4. 04

   Replace the cell probe

   If the connection is correct but Er2 remains, the cell probe has failed and must be replaced per the manual.

5. 05

   Verify normal operation

   After repair, confirm Er2 has cleared and the chamber temperature reads correctly through a full cycle.
