What does Silko Er4 mean?

Er4 is the auxiliary condenser probe error on Silko blast chillers with the EWBC1400 controller. It means the auxiliary condenser probe is not connected properly or has failed. The auxiliary probe supports condenser/auxiliary fan management, so the controller cannot use it for that control while the fault is active. The code is shown on the display without a buzzer.

Symptoms

• "Er4" appears on the controller display.
• Auxiliary condenser temperature is not read by the controller.
• Auxiliary fan management that relies on this probe may not function as intended.
• No audible alarm sounds with the fault.

Common causes

• Auxiliary condenser probe not connected properly to the EWBC1400 controller.
• Auxiliary condenser probe failure.
• Damaged auxiliary probe cable or connector.
• Loose connection at the controller input.

Diagnostic steps

   Check the auxiliary probe connection

   Confirm the auxiliary condenser probe is correctly connected to the EWBC1400 controller and reseat its connector.

   Inspect the probe and wiring

   Examine the auxiliary probe and its lead for visible damage that could break the signal path.

   Replace the auxiliary probe

   If the connection is correct but Er4 remains, replace the auxiliary condenser probe as stated in the manual.
