What does Convotherm E03 mean?
E03 reports a fan malfunction. The manual lists the motor temperature monitor being triggered, an external failsafe being triggered, or a fan motor fault as the conditions behind this code. Because even circulation of hot air and steam depends on the fan, the control stops normal operation and the manual directs all of these causes to customer service.
Symptoms
- Display shows error code E03 for fan malfunction
- Circulation fan does not run or runs abnormally
- Uneven heating or the unit stops cooking
Common causes
- Motor temperature monitor triggered
- External failsafe triggered
- Fan motor fault
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Allow the fan motor to cool
The motor temperature monitor can trip when the motor overheats; letting the unit cool may clear the triggered monitor.
- 02
Note when the error appears
Record whether E03 shows at startup or during cooking to help the technician identify which condition triggered it.
- 03
Check for an external failsafe trip
The manual lists an external failsafe being triggered as a cause, so verify the unit's power and protection devices.
- 04
Call customer service
The manual directs every E03 cause, including a fan motor fault, to customer service.
