What does Convotherm E15/E25 mean?

E15/E25 indicates excess temperature of the condenser or a condenser sensor failure. The manual lists several causes: the water tap closed, excess temperature in the condenser caused by feeding it from a hot water connection, a contaminated solenoid valve dirt filter, a solenoid valve fault, or a condenser sensor fault. The condenser needs cold water to cool exhaust steam, so the control flags this code when cooling fails.

Symptoms

  • Display shows error code E15 or E25
  • Condenser runs hotter than normal
  • Steam exhaust is not being cooled or condensed properly

Common causes

  • Water tap closed
  • Condenser fed from a hot water connection instead of cold
  • Solenoid valve dirt filter contaminated
  • Solenoid valve fault
  • Condenser sensor fault

Diagnostic steps

  1. 01

    Open the water tap

The manual's first remedy is to open the water tap supplying the condenser.

  2. 02

Connect to cold water and restart

If the condenser is fed from a hot water connection, the manual says to connect the combi to cold water and restart.

  3. 03

Remove and clean the dirt filter

A contaminated solenoid valve dirt filter is a listed cause; remove and clean it.

  4. 04

Call customer service for valve or sensor faults

The manual directs a solenoid valve fault and a condenser sensor fault to customer service.

When to call a professional

If the water tap is open, the combi is fed from cold water, and the dirt filter is clean but E15/E25 persists, the manual attributes the remaining causes to a solenoid valve fault or a condenser sensor fault and directs both to customer service. These repairs require a qualified Convotherm by Cleveland authorized service representative.
