What does TurboChef F4 mean?

F4 is displayed when the control detects that the monitor interlock switch opens before the primary or secondary interlock switches. If the microwave high-voltage system is energized when the fault occurs, F4 will also blow the 20-amp F3 fuse. The door interlock switches are wired in parallel. The fault clears when the oven is powered off and then back on.

Symptoms

• Display shows "F4: Door Monitor Defective"
• The 20-amp F3 fuse blows if microwave high voltage was energized
• Cook cycle stops because the interlock sequence is wrong
• Fault occurs during a cook cycle or in Test Mode when the microwave is on

Common causes

• Monitor interlock switch opening out of sequence (before primary/secondary switches)
• Misadjusted or defective door interlock switches
• Door not closing or aligning correctly so switches actuate in the wrong order
• Blown F3 fuse as a downstream result of the fault

Diagnostic steps

1. 01

   Power-cycle the oven

   Turn the oven off and back on; the manual states the F4 message clears once the oven is powered off and then back on.

2. 02

   Inspect the door and switch alignment

   Open and close the door several times and verify it closes fully so the interlock switches actuate in the correct primary-then-secondary-then-monitor sequence.

3. 03

   Verify the interlock switches

   Test the monitor, primary, and secondary interlock switches per the Interlock Switches procedure, noting the switches are wired in parallel.

4. 04

   Check the F3 fuse

   Inspect the 20-amp ATMR F3 fuse, which the fault can blow if the microwave high-voltage system was energized, and replace it if open.
