What does ITW Food Equipment Group 01 mean?
The dishwasher's booster heater temperature has risen above its allowed upper limit. The control monitors the booster (the final rinse water heater) and trips this error to protect the machine when it reads too hot, which usually points to a tripped high-limit thermostat or a heating element that is not switching off correctly.
Symptoms
- Error code 01 shown on the temperature display
- Rinse or booster water running hotter than normal
- Machine stops or refuses to complete a wash cycle
- Error returns after a normal restart
Common causes
- High-limit thermostat tripped on the booster
- Booster heating element malfunction (stuck on)
- Booster temperature sensor reading out of range
- Control fault in the booster heat circuit
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Power the machine off
Press the power button to switch the dishwasher off and allow roughly 20 minutes for the booster to cool down.
- 02
Restart as normal
Press the power button again to restart the machine the way you normally would and let it run through its fill and heat sequence.
- 03
Watch for the error to clear
Run a cycle and confirm whether code 01 returns once the booster reaches operating temperature.
- 04
Call Hobart Service if it persists
If the error continues to display, the cause is likely a high-limit trip or heating element malfunction; contact Hobart Service at 1-888-4HOBART.

When to call a professional
Call Hobart Service if code 01 keeps returning after a power-off, cool-down and restart. A persistent high-limit trip or a heating element that will not switch off involves the booster's heating circuit and safety thermostat, which carry line voltage and high water temperatures. Diagnosing and replacing these parts should be left to an authorized Hobart technician.
