What does ITW Food Equipment Group 02 mean?
The booster heater temperature has fallen below its allowed lower limit. The control expects the booster to hold the final rinse water at setpoint; reading too low for too long signals that the booster is not heating, which commonly traces back to a tripped high-limit thermostat or a failed heating element.
Symptoms
- Error code 02 shown on the temperature display
- Rinse water cooler than normal or not hot enough to sanitize
- Booster not reaching its target temperature
- Error returns after a restart
Common causes
- Booster heating element malfunction (not heating)
- High-limit thermostat tripped on the booster
- Booster temperature sensor reading out of range
- Control fault in the booster heat circuit
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Power the machine off
Press the power button to switch the dishwasher off.
- 02
Restart as normal
Press the power button again to restart and let the booster attempt to reach setpoint.
- 03

- 04

When to call a professional
Contact Hobart Service if code 02 persists after a restart. A booster that will not reach temperature usually means a tripped high limit or a failed heating element, both of which sit in the line-voltage heating circuit. An authorized Hobart technician should test and replace these components and confirm the booster sanitizes correctly before the machine returns to service.
