What does ITW Food Equipment Group 06 mean?

The wash tank water temperature has dropped below its allowed lower limit. The control expects the wash tank to hold its setpoint; reading too low signals the tank is not heating, which most often traces back to a tripped high-limit thermostat or a failed wash tank heating element.

Symptoms

  • Error code 06 shown on the wash tank temperature display
  • Wash water cooler than normal
  • Wash tank not reaching its target temperature
  • Error returns after a restart

Common causes

  • Wash tank heating element malfunction (not heating)
  • High-limit thermostat tripped on the wash tank
  • Wash tank temperature sensor reading out of range
  • Control fault in the wash tank heat circuit

Diagnostic steps

  1. 01

    Power the machine off

Press the power button to switch the dishwasher off.

  2. 02

    Restart as normal

Press the power button again and let the wash tank attempt to reach its setpoint.

  3. 03

    Verify the tank heats up

Watch the wash tank temperature climb and check whether code 06 clears as it warms.

  4. 04

Call Hobart Service if it persists

If the error continues to display, the likely cause is a high-limit trip or heating element malfunction; contact Hobart Service at 1-888-4HOBART.

When to call a professional

Call Hobart Service if code 06 persists after a restart. A wash tank that will not reach temperature usually means a tripped high limit or a failed heating element in the line-voltage circuit. An authorized Hobart technician should test and replace these parts and verify the wash tank holds its setpoint before the dishwasher is used again.
