What does Perfect Fry HEATER BOX mean?

This PFA-series SYSTEM ERROR indicates the heating element is not installed properly. The fryer beeps twice, displays the alert, and de-energizes the heating element while the fans keep running. It will not heat until the heater module is correctly placed on the vat and its electrical connection at the back of the compartment is made and clean.

Symptoms

• LCD shows *** SYSTEM ERROR *** PLEASE CHECK HEATER BOX
• Fryer beeps twice when the error occurs
• Heating element is de-energized but the fans run
• Oil does not heat to operating temperature

Common causes

• Heating element (heater module) is not installed properly
• Heater module is not correctly placed on the oil vat
• Electrical connection between heater module and connector is not made
• Dirty or corroded male/female terminals on the connector

Diagnostic steps

1. 01

   Reseat the heater module

   Check that the heater module has been properly placed on the oil vat.

2. 02

   Verify the electrical connection

   Confirm the connection between the heater module and the connector at the inside back of the fryer compartment is fully made.

3. 03

   Clean the terminals

   Clean the male and female terminals on the connector with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab.

4. 04

   Confirm the error clears

   When corrected the fryer beeps twice to signal OK and resumes HEATING.

When to call a professional

If the heater module is correctly seated with clean, fully mated terminals but the SYSTEM ERROR persists, the heater module or electronics box module may be faulty and need replacement by qualified service personnel.
